Marking a milestone for Yunnan Province, this project is the region’s first grid-forming shared energy storage project.

For this project, Sineng Electric developed and delivered an innovative solution featuring a 5MW central PCS MV Turnkey Station and booster integration system, based on its 1250kW central PCS. With this, the company has once again set a new benchmark for single-unit rated grid-forming capacity. Equipped with Sineng’s Next-Gen enhanced hybrid grid-forming technology, the plant can effectively handle disturbances caused by high penetration of renewables, significantly strengthening grid resilience and supporting the sustainable growth of clean energy.

Sineng’s grid-forming PCS enables rapid establishment of stable voltage, frequency, and phase angle under extreme operating conditions. Leveraging its inherent synchronous voltage source characteristics, it achieves millisecond-level dynamic power support and quickly restores power quality. In the event of large-scale grid separation or outage, the plant can seamlessly switch to off-grid mode to supply critical and emergency loads, while providing fast and reliable black start services to ensure the safe and stable operation of the regional grid under extreme scenarios.

With the project successfully connected to the grid, the shared energy storage system will demonstrate full hybrid grid-forming capabilities—delivering services such as renewable output smoothing, peak shaving and valley filling, primary and secondary frequency regulation, inertia response and damping support, and black start. This establishes an efficient and flexible “generation-grid-load-storage” interaction framework, creating a replicable and scalable “Yongde Model” for the large-scale development and integration of renewables in Western Yunnan.

Spanning approximately 7,347 acres, with a total investment of 6.973 billion RMB, the project adopts a comprehensive approach that combines large-scale solar power generation with ecological conservation. Beyond delivering clean electricity, the installation of solar panels contributes to environmental rehabilitation by mitigating ground-level solar radiation, reducing water evaporation, preserving soil moisture, and fostering vegetation restoration. With fewer parallel connections, energy losses are minimized, resulting in a 3% increase in system utilization, thereby optimizing the LCOE. Sineng’s 5MW MV turnkey station, configurable with four units of 1250kW central PCS, seamlessly integrates with these BESS containers, ensuring optimal performance, enhanced safety, and improved economic efficiency.

As a standalone energy storage installation, the project plays a crucial role in renewable energy self-consumption optimization, frequency regulation, and peak shaving, supporting the region’s transition toward a low-carbon, sustainable energy future. Now fully operational, the energy storage power plant is expected to achieve an average daily discharge of 480,000 kWh, offsetting 160 tons of coal consumption and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 425 tons.

As reported by the Government of Goiás, the 2.5MW solar carport is the largest of its kind in Brazil. With 4,900 solar modules installed, the carport combines renewable energy generation with functional design, offering 980 parking spaces while shielding vehicles from sunlight and precipitation. This innovative structure contributes to the reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 1,697 tons annually, which is equivalent to planting 7,000 trees or removing 369 vehicles from the streets.

The entire project was executed by Moove Energia, the EPC responsible for engineering, procurement, and construction. Ensuring exceptional performance and long-term reliability, the project features Sineng’s SP-250K-H string inverters, known for their exceptional operational efficiency and adaptability. Equipped with 12 MPPTs and a maximum efficiency of 99.0%, these inverters optimize power generation and enhance profitability. More importantly, the I-V curve diagnosis technology allows for rapid and accurate troubleshooting without the need for additional on-site experts, thereby significantly simplifying the O&M process.
