In Short : India’s ALMM-listed solar module manufacturing capacity has risen to 87.97 GW, with 8,653 MW recently added. The total number of approved manufacturers now stands at 104. New entrants and capacity expansions by major players reflect strong growth. From June 2026, solar cells will also be included under ALMM, boosting quality assurance in government-backed solar projects.

In Detail : India’s solar manufacturing capacity under the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) has reached 87.9a7 GW, marking a significant boost in the renewable energy sector. This update comes with an addition of 8,653 MW to the list, reflecting growing interest and investment in domestic solar production.

A total of 104 manufacturers are now approved under the ALMM. New names include Premier Energies Global Environment with 1,085 MW, Indosol Solar with 472 MW, and smaller players like Pravanya Solar India and Green Brilliance Renewable Energy. Their inclusion highlights the diversification and expansion of India’s solar module landscape.

Previously delisted companies such as Agrawal Renewable Energy and Unique Sun Power have also been reinstated, adding a combined 285 MW to the total capacity. This reinstatement indicates regulatory flexibility while maintaining performance standards.

Many existing manufacturers have expanded their capacities significantly. Goldi Sun leads with an addition of 3,114 MW, followed by RenewSys India with 1,197 MW, and Solex Energy with 767 MW. This trend underlines the confidence of established players in India’s solar market.

The ALMM was introduced in 2021 as a quality control mechanism, ensuring that only certified manufacturers participate in government projects and benefit from related incentives. It serves as a gatekeeping tool for reliability and performance in the renewable energy ecosystem.

Looking ahead, from June 1, 2026, solar cells will also be brought under ALMM regulations through List-II. This move is expected to further enhance the integrity and standardization of components used in government-supported solar projects, reinforcing India’s energy security goals.
